Lush produces and sells a variety of handmade products, including soaps, shower gels, shampoos and hair conditioners, bath bombs, bubble bars, face masks, and hand and body lotions for various skin types.

They use two Formech vacuum forming machines to reduce cost and lead time for their bubble bar, ballistics and specialty soap department. Two 300XQ’s are utilized to make moulds for LUSH’s spa line. Formech has helped LUSH bring product concepts to market in far less time than if they had outsource the trays.
Low cost and ease of maintenance coupled with unparalleled support for the product were instrumental for the customer in choosing Formech.
Formech has aided in LUSH’s success by providing low cost vacuum forming machines that are durable, and require very little maintenance. Chris mentioned that Return On Investment VS. outsourcing to a local plastic former took less than a year to make up the costs.
Even with three employees running two 300XQ machines. LUSH is still using their older 300X vacuum former, which has probably helped them to turn out about a million Canadian Dollars in product!
Designed and built for a lab setting, LUSH’s 300XQ is withstanding production numbers which are far beyond their recommended spec. Also, LUSH has found the maintenance and their vacuum forming machines to be super simple and extremely affordable.
“We at LUSH Cosmetics have had a very successful cost reduction (and a supply issue resolved) by investing in our two vacuum forming machines. Formech was very helpful and easy to deal with setting up this new department. They have also been excellent to deal with for the low amount of maintenance that is required for these machines.
The cost savings of our company doing this work in house, yielded a Return On Investment of less than 6 months as we were outsourcing all our plastic molds. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Formech to anyone needing a constant supply of molds of plastic formed items.
It has also given us the flexibility to modify and get new products to market quicker versus having to outsource and then wait for a sample to approve before a large run is produced. These have been very inexpensive and low maintenance machines that have been providing our company with molds for the last 6 years with little to no costly down time.”
